A Reunion of the Original Siduri Team – A Very Special Pinot Noir – All the Proceeds Benefiting Ukrainian Refugees

100% of the Proceeds of This Wine Are Donated to World Central Kitchen to Benefit Ukrainian Refugees
THE WINE:

The 2021 Tryzub Pinot Noir reunites the original team at Siduri Wines – co-founders Adam Lee and Dianna Novy along with their first assistant winemaker, Scott Shapley, in a limited production Pinot Noir honoring and benefiting the refugees created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This Pinot Noir comes from three vineyards in the Central Coast – the Clos Pepe and Peake Ranch Vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills as well as the Boer Vineyard in the Chalone AVA of Monterey County. The wine combines the concentration and richness often found in Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noirs with some of the earthiness and mineral character found in Chalone area wines.
WHY UKRAINE?
When Dianna and I first interviewed Scott Shapley for the Siduri job way back in 1998, he and his wife, Laura, were living in Kyiv. We spent many hours over harvest talking about his time in the Ukraine and his friends there. Many years later, we relived these conversations with a Ukrainian intern, Yaroslav Andriiets, who worked with us over a harvest season. Yaroslav went on to work at other wineries, including Shabo, one of Ukraine’s finest wineries. This combination of experiences resonated with us when Russia invaded Ukraine, and seeing the tragic human cost of this activity led us to work together once again to produce this very limited Pinot Noir.

The price of this Pinot Noir is $80 a bottle.
Only 3 barrels were produced.
All of the money from the sale of this wine goes to World Central Kitchen.
This wine will ship in the Fall of 2022, weather permitting.

"The End is Nigh…"

Part of what makes wine special (and sometimes frustrating) is that production is limited. When a favorite wine from a particular growing season is gone, then it cannot be replicated. This isn’t true for most other alcoholic beverages (or many other things in the beverage and food fields) which are consistent year-end, year-out.
We have a couple of different wines where supplies are quickly running out. Once they are gone…well, they are gone. Here’s a short list of wines in even shorter supply:
2019 Beau Marchais Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir ($95) – 6 cases left
96 POINTS – JEB DUNNUCK
"Starting with the Santa Lucia Highlands release, the 2019 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard has a deep, nuanced yet powerful style that offers impressive black raspberry and red currant fruits to go with lots of spice, loamy soil, spring flower, and earthy forest floor notes. Gorgeously textured on the palate, this medium to full-bodied Pinot has ripe, polished tannins, a great mid-palate, and the fruit and opulence to drink nicely today yet also evolve for a good 7-8 years, if you’re so inclined."
2020 Beau Marchais Clos Pepe Est Vineyard Pinot Noir ($95) – 4 cases left
96-94 POINTS JEB DUNNUCK
"The 2020 Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Est Vineyard saw 25% stems, 48 days on stems, and aging all in new barrels. Lots of mulberry, chocolate covered strawberries, and plum fruits as well as notes of orange blossom and spice emerge from the glass, and it’s a rich, full-bodied, textured beauty that packs one heck of a mid-palate. With ripe tannins and an expansive, supple texture, drink this hedonistic, sexy Pinot Noir on release and over the following 7-8 years."
2021 Morét-Brealynn Rosé of Pinot Noir ($27) – 12 cases left
90 POINTS WINE ENTHUSIAST & PRESS DEMOCRAT WINE OF THE WEEK

"This is a rosé with tangy fruit of watermelon and pomegranate and notes of mineral and honeysuckle. Riding on bright acidity, it finishes crisp. It’s well-crafted and refreshing from start to finish. Impressive."
