McCrea Cellars, Inc.-Syrah-Ciel du Cheval Vineyard-Red Mountain-Washington State-2006-14.8% Alcohol-$19.99-A very distinct and bold nose of red and dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color, one of the biggest fruit noses I can recall.   A full bodied single vineyard Syrah with red and black currants, blackberries, with layers of exotic spices and chocolate, long finish.   A special Syrah.         WE-93           CR-93       Good with meats, chicken, pasta.

Ravenswood Winery-Zinfandel-Teldeschi Vineyard-Dry Creek Valley-California-2007-14.5% Alcohol-$25.98-A nose of dark cherry, dark purple in the core of the glass, lightening to a bit of a garnet red on the edges. This single vineyard Zin is medium to full bodied, with a long finish.  The alcohol comes through, but not too hot.  The wine is robust and full-flavored, with a touch of dark fruit, but more obviously, a smoky, meaty element.                   WS-86        WE-90          CR-90             Good with ribs, chicken, pasta.
