Learn About the New Flaunt Wine Company Releases

Dianna Novy has been producing superb Sparkling Wines under the Flaunt Wine Company label for several years now. In fact, the Wall Street Journal described her wines as "a worthy West Coast counterpart to Champagne." Prior to Flaunt, she founded and produced all of the Siduri Pinot Noirs with me for over twenty years.
Now, Dianna is releasing her first still Pinot Noirs under the Flaunt label – a remarkably elegant offering from the famed Sexton Vineyard as well as a great value Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. And she has released her first vintage-designated Sparkling wine, the 2017 Flaunt Russian River Valley Brut Sparkling Wine. This is one of the driest and most serious Sparkling Wines that I have had from California with only a 3 gram per liter dosage.
She’s offering Clarice Mailing list members an opportunity to purchase these wines before the General Public and at a discount.

Join a Zoom Tasting
With David Hejl
of Domaine Della Winery

David Hejl has been a friend of mine since his days at Kosta-Browne Winery. I still remember the lunch we had when I had the opportunity to taste the first wines made under his own label, Domaine Della. At an event in March of this year, I had the opportunity to taste his new releases including his 2018 Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay which were absolutely superb. You can learn all about David and his wines and purchase some bottles ahead of time on his website: https://www.domainedella.com/
I invite you to join me and David for a Zoom discussion about his wines, his winery, and the 2020 vintage on Wednesday, October 7 at 4pm Pacific Time. Here are all the details:

IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT
CLARICE WINE COMPANY
AND THE 2020 HARVEST!

On August 26th of this year I shared a birthday story about my grandmother, Clarice, and how she eloped with a poor dairy farmer just shy of her 15th birthday. Despite their humble beginnings, my grandparents were married 67 years.
One of the most unusual things about Clarice, at least to me as I was growing up, was the fact that she didn’t drink milk. My Mom, Dad, and I were a milk drinking household – but not Clarice. It took me a long time to realize just how unusual this was – after all she married a dairy farmer – how could she not drink milk. When I asked my Mom about this, she explained it to me this way:
"Mom and Daddy were hit so hard by the Great Depression that there was very little milk to spare. Mom decided then to stop drinking milk – saving the family’s milk for me and my brother and sister – and then they sold the rest because they needed the money. Eventually things got so bad that Daddy had to sell the farm, which is when he went to work for Phenix Dairy and then Carnation Dairy. Mom lost her taste for milk then and she never got it back."
I’ve never known hard times like that before – but 2020 is helping me understand them better. Unfortunately, all of Clarice’s 2020 grape crop was lost to smoke taint from the River Fire.

I am committed to making certain that my growers – the amazing Franscioni and Pisoni families – are somehow compensated for their amazing work this year even with no grapes to show for it. In 26 years of making wine I have seen many challenges, but nothing like 2020.

Clarice and her husband, Pleasant, adapted and survived and even thrived, raising three children and many great grand-children, including myself. At Clarice Wine Company, I plan to follow her example and thrive despite life’s challenges.

Cheers,
Adam Lee
