Free the Grapes! to Launch New Jersey Campaign
October 17 at New Jersey State House Press Conferenceree The Grapes Update

    Dear New Jersey Wine Lovers,
The Free the Grapes! campaign is underway to reform New Jersey’s archaic restrictions on winery-to-consumer direct shipping, and we want you to participate!

If you can attend the October 17 press conference, please contact us at inquiry@taftcommunications.com or through our Facebook page. If you can’t, please continue to write your legislators by taking 2 minutes to personalize a letter using our website.
What: New Jersey law bans consumers from having wine shipped from 96% of US producers who produce more than the arbitrary "capacity cap" built into NJ law. But Senate Bill 2496 and Assembly Bill 3867 would remove the capacity cap, allowing New Jerseyans to have their favorite wines shipped to their home or office from any US winery obtaining a permit to ship to New Jersey. The press conference will introduce these bills with comments from supportive legislators, Free the Grapes!, winemakers and industry representatives.
    When: Wednesday, October 17, 2018, 11:00am – 12:00 noon
Where: New Jersey State House, 125 W State Street, Room 109, Trenton, NJ 08006
    Backgrond
New Jersey’s arbitrary law bans winery direct shipments from medium and large U.S. wineries to wine lovers in New Jersey. The ban includes many small, boutique wineries owned by larger companies. A simple fix, provided by S 2496 and A 3867, would raise consumer choice and increase state tax and winery permit collections.

    Thank you!
