As someone with an appreciation for our Fulcrum and On Point wines, we are offering these Pinot Noirs to you well in advance of our regular release. These young wines have yet to be reviewed, and in some cases are many months away from their ideal drinking window. As our way of rewarding your faith in our wines, and your patience in cellaring them, you enjoy special prerelease pricing. It’s that simple. Weather permitting, we’ll ship your wines as soon as you place your order. After May 25th , if any wines remain, they will be sold at full price, and no further orders will be shipped until late fall.
Our 2013 Pinot Noirs
2013 Fulcrum Gap’s Crown Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir – 172 cases made

In 2013, we switched one of the coveted blocks set aside for us at this acclaimed site, and the result is perhaps the most complex and enticing expression of this vineyard we’ve ever made. While it still shows all of the amazing depth and voluptuousness that make Gap’s Crown famous, there are fetching floral and sweet spice notes on the nose, as well as a silkiness on palate, that I absolutely love. This is a beautiful wine, and an alluring example of why Gap’s Crown has emerged as one of California’s great Pinot Noir vineyards.
2013 Fulcrum Brosseau Vineyard Chalone AVA Pinot Noir – 148 cases made

While some vineyards have cool climates, and others have limestone soils, Brosseau is one of those perfect vineyards that has both. As a result, it displays a profound mineral-driven character that underscores gorgeous layers of blackberry, violet and spice. While this wine has Brosseau’s trademark firm tannins, they are perfectly in balance in this fabulous Pinot, adding depth and dimension as it evolves with each new and satisfying sip.
2013 Fulcrum Landy Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir – 81 cases made

Located right next to Rochioli Winery in the heart of the legendary Russian River Valley, Landy is a steep hillside vineyard, where we source both Pinot Noir and Petite Sirah. Our Pinot Noir is grown in the cool, fog-shrouded lower portion of the property, where the climate and conditions yield a graceful and demure expression of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir that I believe will be a favorite of many Pinot enthusiasts. While this is a decidedly elegant wine, it still offers abundant layers of wild strawberry, flowers, Christmas spices, cola and clove. Sadly, with just 81 cases made, it won’t last long.
2013 On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir – 253 cases made

This wine is a blend of grapes from two of the Sonoma Coast’s most acclaimed vineyards: 54% Sangiacomo and 46% Gap’s Crown. Together, they offer a delicious combination of sweet and savory elements, with bold berry and cherry flavors underscored by hints of sesame, sage and soy. While the Gap’s Crown component keeps this wine lush and rich, nuanced notes of smoke, earth and crushed rock minerality add gravitas, ensuring that it will please even the most discerning Pinot enthusiast. 2013 On Point Christinna’s Cuvee Anderson Valley Pinot Noir – 182 cases made

For this vintage, my wife’s namesake wine was made exclusively using grapes from the acclaimed Donnelly Creek Vineyard in Anderson Valley. While this is a beautifully textured wine, with gorgeous layers of ripe black cherry, there is also an undeniable Anderson Valley-ness about it, with wild earthy notes of sassafras and smoky evergreen that add depth and character. Dark, graceful and just a hint brooding, this is a wine that’s punching way above its weight.
