We are unveiling our first five Pinot Noirs from 2016 vintage (including our new Wildcat Mountain Pinot Noir), as well as our 2016 Durell Vineyard Chardonnay. If I had to compare the 2016 wines to the 2015, I would say the 2016s offer a purer fruit expression.  It reminds me a bit of 2014 which was really a great vintage.  More information on each wine is below and you can see even more by visiting our website.  Enjoy!-  David

As someone with an appreciation for our wines, we are offering these to you well in advance of our regular release. Many of these young wines have yet to be reviewed, and in some cases are many months away from their ideal drinking window. As our way of rewarding your faith in our wines, and your patience in cellaring them, you enjoy special prerelease pricing.  Weather permitting, we’ll ship your wines as soon as you place your order. After May 29th , if any wines remain, they will be sold at full price, and no further orders will be shipped until late Fall.

2016 Fulcrum Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Regular $68 – Exclusive prerelease price $54.40                    PinotFile- 97 points

Gap’s Crown continues to deliver wines of depth and complexity.  Its dark fruit core is what stands out in the 2016 vintage.  We used a bit more of our clone 667 and reduced the new oak used to 40% to allow the fruit to shine.  While the wine impresses now, we think the future prospects for this wine are even more promising.  It isn’t always easy to bring balance to a Pinot that has so much raw power, but we think our history of working with this vineyard for the last 10 years has allowed us to do so. 224 cases made.

2016 Fulcrum Brosseau Vineyard, Chalone AVA Pinot Noir

Regular $62 – Exclusive prerelease price $49.60                     PinotFile 94 points

Only the windswept hills of Chalone could yield a wine like this. It has a wild and brambly character that matches the wildness of the area where it is grown.  The 2016 Brosseau has a core of clone 114 from an area of the vineyard with the most limestone. The minerality that limestone brings allowed us to capture the essense of Chalone. Our first Brosseau was made in 2009 and in the ensuing years it has found a following among those who seek rare wines of distinct character. 129 cases made.

2016 Fulcrum Wildcat Mountain Vineyard, Carneros Pinot Noir

Spice and fruit abound in this wine. As it opens up the layers or cherry, brush and herbs spring from the glass. Unfined and unfiltered it is best to decant if you want to drink early or just open it up and let it get some air.  We made a Wildcat back in 2011 and it was wildly popular.  However when we went back to make a follow up vintage the fruit wasn’t available.  Well in 2016 we signed a new long term contract for Wildcat so see the new kid in town! 151 cases made.

2016 On Point Christinna’s Cuvee Pinot Noir

Regular $38 – Exclusive prerelease price $30.40                  PinotFile 91 points

A complex blend of Pinot Noir from our top vineyard sites.  A selection of the most elegant barrels from Wildcat Mountain, Gap’s Crown and Donnelly Creek vineyards.  A rich core of fruit and complex aromatics of spice and earth with the best of all sites on display.  While this wine exhibits the finesse that Fulcrum is known for, it is a bigger and richer style than the 2015 vintage.  Formally released next winter, but as a member you can get it now.  134 cases made

2016 On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Regular $38 – Exclusive prerelease price $30.40      

A taste of the Sonoma Coast in a glass.  A complex, but easy to drink Pinot Noir blended from our Wildcat Mountain and Gap’s Crown vineyard blocks.  Rich fruit is the name of this game, with only 18% new oak used.  Notes of berries, cherries and spice on the nose.  Deep fruit core with hints of anise and minerality.   Wildcat and Gap’s Crown are amazing on their own, but with this wine you can see what happens when two great sites come together.  140 cases made

​2016 Fulcrum Durell Vineyard, Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

​Our second year making this wine and we are really dialing our winemaking in. Barrel fermented and with less oak expression than in our 2015 this wine sings!  Brilliant golden color in the glass. Intense aromas of honeysuckle, granny smith apple and Meyer lemon.  Vibrant layers of mineral, apple, pineapple, apricot, and fig on the palate.  A rich texture that fills the mouth, leaving you with a very long and bright finish. 146 cases made.
