Our 2018 Fall Releases

On Tuesday, November 13th, we will be offering a holiday discount offer on all wines including our flagship 2016 Fulcrum Anderson Valley Pinot Noir and our 2016 On Point Christinna’s Cuvee Pinot Noir!  To give you a head start on deciding what you would like to order we wanted to tell you about the wines.

2016 On Point Christinna’s Cuvee Pinot Noir

A complex blend of Pinot Noir from our top vineyard sites.  A selection of the most elegant barrels from Wildcat Mountain, Gap’s Crown and Donnelly Creek vineyards.  A rich core of fruit and complex aromatics of spice and earth with the best of all sites on display.  While this wine exhibits the finesse that Fulcrum is known for, it is a bigger and richer style than the 2015 vintage.  Sure to be a favorite so place your orders soon while we still have it available!  134 cases made

2016 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

Anderson Valley is where Fulcrum started in 2006 and our Anderson Valley Pinot Noir could be considered our "heritage" wine.  This is our 11th year of making this wine and it enbodies the earthy elegance that we love about Pinot Noir.  Made exclusively from our Pommard block at Donnelly Creek Vineyard, this wine has deep aromas of forest floor, cherry and spice. Bottled after 11 months and then given a full 16 months of bottle age to allow the wine to shine, and shine it does.  We only made 150 cases of this very special wine.

A Cool Harvest in 2018

In winemaking and grape growing you have to be patient and 2018 was a year for patience.   We have gotten used to harvests starting in August and moving quickly through September because of the 2015, 2016 and 2017 harvests.   It started to seem like the norm, but in reality those are very early harvests historically and in 2018 we reverted to a more normal seasonal pattern.  The result was a long cool season extending into October.  This allowed for the fruit to hang longer on the vine without risk of raisoning while the natural acidity of the grapes was preserved.  We had no major heat spikes or rain events that caused us to pick early so we watched and waited for the fruit to ripen perfectly.  Overall it was a smooth and excellent harvest.

People often ask us "how was the harvest"?  However what they mean is "how good are the wines from this harvest"?  Time will tell for 2018, but we feel encouraged by what we have in the tanks and barrels.

Fulcrum Holiday Party is December 15th in Sonoma!

We want to you all to visit us again in Sonoma.  Whether you are local or only come to Sonoma once in a while we hope you continue to make the pilgrimage to our tasting room.  We always have something new to pour and we love seeing our list members again.

In that spirit we want to announce our Holiday Open House is from 2:30pm to 7pm on Saturday December 15th.  The event will be catered by The Girl and the Fig.  They have paired some great bites with our wines.  There is even a little tasty gift for everyone that attends.  We hope you can join us on the 15th if you are local.  If you are out of the area, please come see us soon!
