Diving deep into the remote hillsides of the Western Spaish frontier has been an exciting project for us this year. Wines hailing from what we’re affectionately calling the Notorious RBG (trademark pending) – Ribeira Sacra, ierzo and Sierra de Gredos – certainly make an unadulterated purity and appealing mineral streak without the heavy hand to overshadow the beautiful (often old-vine) raw material. We could have easily had enough candidates to do a tasting with just one of these regions, but the more wines we tried, the more we kept finding winners, and we wanted to share as much of the good stuff as possible with you.
