Greetings from Sebastopol,
This release comes right on the heels of a rough start this Spring with an “atmospheric river” sending flood waters spilling into our winery and tasting room in Sebastopol. Through the hard work of our staff and many volunteers and friends, combined with the kind donations of many generous souls we are optimistic that we will be re-opening our doors by April 1st.
Needless to say we are feeling humbled by the creative and destructive powers of our environment, as the dormant vines in our Syrah vineyards are just now starting to wake up and push out their first new growth of the season. This experience has been a reminder to renew our commitment to responsible and sustainable environmental practices. We have never sourced from vineyards that utilize chemical pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides, and we strongly believe in the importance of a holistic approach to wine growing / making.
It has always been our philosophy that less is more when it comes to winemaking and although it is not the safest nor easiest route from a financial and physical standpoint (though it keeps us in shape!) we stand by our decision to handmake our wines with minimal intervention and we believe the results speak for themselves.
We are excited to introduce a new Syrah blend to our line-up, composed of a selection of sites along our rugged coastal ridges, all culminating in a delicious and complete expression of cool climate California Syrah. Also included in this release are the second vintages of Trousseau Gris and Valdiguie bottled under the Pax Wines label. These easy drinkers are just the thing to round out your cellar for the summer with mouthwatering acidity and nuance.
As always, thank you for your support. We are honored to have our wines on your table and in your cellar.
Santé,

Pax and Pam
