First, we’d like to say a special thank you to the folks who jumped on the Armagh release and scooped it up! For those of you who may have missed out on the Armagh, don’t worry, here’s your chance to score a savory Syrah before year’s end.
Many of you may know that Alder Springs is the vineyard that started it all way back in 2000, when Pax Wines was still finding its footing and ‘Syrah’ meant something entirely different in the New World. This site first captured our imagination of the possibilities of this variety in California, possibilities that we’ve pursued doggedly and wholeheartedly. Years later and this mountainous Mendocino site, a patchwork of lieu-dits shrouded in coastal fog, continues to produce exceptional fruit for the single vineyard Syrah that first put us on the map.
More concentrated than the 2015, this supple wine is brimming with personality and the promise of more to come. Inky fruit on the nose and smoke and brine on the palate, drink this wine a bit chilled with lamb chops or a thick steak, and take your time to enjoy it as it opens up in the glass.
With only 137 cases bottled, this is a limited production wine. It will not be distributed and is available only to mailing list & Club members and in the tasting room. From all of us at PAX, we hope you enjoy this wine for years to come.
