Vineyard Manager, Greg Adams and Winemaker, Tanner Scheer discuss harvest strategy at Zephyr Farms Vineyard in Freestone.
Hi All,
We hope this email finds you well and you are enjoying the first few weeks of summer! Below is an exciting update of current happenings in our winery and vineyards.
Winemaker Tanner, and now Kenny, our new Cellar Master, have been hard at work to prepare the cellar for the upcoming 2018 vintage. We are preparing to bottle our 2017 Chardonnays in less than two weeks – this includes tank racking, filtering, and analysis. These wines are bright and delicious and will be some of the stars from the 2017 vintage!
Greg, our Vineyard Manager, has been leading Tanner and Kenny through each of our vineyard sites, talking harvest strategy by varietal, block and clone. We are also gathering crop estimates for the 2018 vintage and we are looking at balanced, healthy yields for our Pinot Noir. The spring weather was kind to us, allowing an incident free bloom and generous fruit set. Be sure to follow us for continual harvest updates.

Welcome, Kenny! We are excited to welcome our new Cellar Master, Kenny Strauss to the Red Car team. Kenny joins us with a B.S. in Wine and Viticulture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. From Switzerland to Calistoga to Argentina, Kenny brings a varied background in winemaking that will bring new benefits to the cellar. Kenny thrives working with Pinot Noir and is excited to dive into the 2018 harvest.

Saturday, July 28th: Forest Bathing at Zephyr Farms Vineyard

Join us for our summer excursion where a Certified Forest Therapy Guide will lead us on a meditative walk through redwoods and vineyards. We will complete the experience with a special tasting featuring local cheeses and multiple vintages of Zephyr Farms Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. $45 per person and preferred pricing for members.

Saturday, August 4: Houtskool Dumplings, Live Music & Wine
6:00-8:00PM
Come by the tasting room for a summer evening of local music and houtskool dumplings! Red Car wines will be available by the glass and by the bottle. Bring your friends and family for a relaxing and fun evening on the tasting room patio – free admission!
