New reviews are in for our last-of-vintage 2012 Pinots, and just in time to provide you with an exclusive offer for those wines before they are sold out. We are very pleased to share these exciting new reviews from one of the leading voices for Pinot Noir, Prince of Pinot, as well as the reviews from the highly respected wine writers Antonio Galloni and Stephen Tanzer. We’ve already seen excitement build since the release of this recent press and wanted to provide you this last opportunity to access the wines. Included in these reviews are our current releases of the Sonoma Coast Appellation Series, wines that we have not had the opportunity to introduce to you until now. Select barrels of the vineyards you love so much, such as the Red Car Estate, Heaven & Earth and Ritchie, form the backbone of the Red Car Sonoma Coast appellation wines. The combination of the critical acclaim, as well as the great value of these wines, has led them to be featured at renowned establishments across the nation such as Nobu New York, Planters Inn in Charleston, Abigail Street in Cincinnati, and The Progress in San Francisco. Winemaker Carroll Kemp crafted these wines with the specific intention for them to be consumed at a younger age than our reserve selections, making them the perfect complement to your summer festivities!
Additionally, we are excited to offer to you the 2012 Falstaff Vineyard Pinot Noir, which up until now has only been offered in our tasting room. Falstaff Vineyard lies on a windswept ridge in the Sebastopol Hills of the West Sonoma Coast. Fully exposed to the daily winds and coastal fog, it typically produces tiny, often seedless, berries and wines of intense, earthy complexity. Planted by Ron and Judy Lougheed in 2000 utilizing clones 828, 777, and 115, this is a marginal Sebastopol Hills site where ripening is quite difficult but the results speak for themselves.
Wines will be shipped to you by refrigerated truck which guarantees full climate control protection from our winery to your doorstep at no additional cost from regular shipping rates. If you are travelling over the summer or just prefer to have us hold the wines for you until fall, please let us know and we are happy to make the proper arrangements.

2012 Hagan Vineyard Pinot Noir
93 Points, Prince of Pinot
"Dark reddish purple color in the glass. Comforting aromas of dark berry jam, rose petal and spice. The most expressive and pleasing nose among the 2012 Red Car Pinot Noirs tasted. Impressive entry and finish with a mid weight plus array of blackberry, boysenberry and crème de cassis flavors with some oak and earthiness in the background. Very silky mouthfeel, with wind-blown tannins and pleasing roundness and fullness on the finish. This wine has plenty of character and a killer texture."

"Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. The whole cluster peeks out on the nose in the guise of rose petal and spice aromas framing the cherry fruit. Delicious black raspberry and boysenberry fruit framed by dry, balanced tannins. The silky mouthfeel is engaging and there is notable fruit intensity on the finish. Good harmony in this thoroughly enjoyable wine."
2012 Falstaff Vineyard Pinot Noir
91 Points, Stephen Tanzer
"Brilliant red. Sexy aromas of fresh red berries, potpourri and minerals, with a hint of Asian spices that builds with air. Silky and sweet on the palate, offering intense raspberry and spicecake flavors accented by blood orange. Lithe and precise on the long, tangy finish, with the spice and floral notes strongly repeating. This wine reminded me of a serious Volnay."

"Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Nicely perfumed with aromas of dark cherry, rose hips tea, wilted rose and sous-bois. The mid weight core of darker cherry and raspberry are presented in a velvety smooth textural style. There is a slight herbal, but not herbaceous tone in the background. The dry tannins make a modest encore on the generously fruity finish."

"Bright ruby-red. Exotic aromas of candied red berries, Asian spices and blood orange, with a subtle herbal nuance in the background. A juicy, appealingly sweet midweight that offers intense raspberry and spicecake flavors along with a deeper bitter cherry nuance that builds with air. Finish(es) with a strong cut and youthfully gripping tannins."

"Blended from several amazing vineyard sites, including Ritchie and Hawk Hill, this Chardonnay from Old Wente clones has spent time aging in a modest 10% new oak. It shines in exotic florals and a creamy mouthfeel followed by a dry, bright finish of fresh-squeezed grapefruit and tangerine. This is one to enjoy entirely on its own or with a myriad of appetizers."
