HARVEST IS IN FULL SWING HERE AT TRUCHARD…

We began picking our Pinot Noir on August 30th when temperatures spiked, and for the next eight weeks our lives will revolve around the crush.  If Mother Nature is consistent and cooperating, we will pick our last grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon towards the end of October. Year after year, it is always such an exciting time!
Harvest also signals the arrival of some cool, fall days, and our minds can’t help but turn toward the heartier wines in our cellar, starting with our delicious Cabernet. We planted Cabernet in southern Napa 43 years ago when conventional wisdom was that it was too cool for grapes, much less cabernet.  Today, we have sixty acres of Cabernet vines, all planted on our hillsides with steep southwest facing slopes absorbing all that warm afternoon sun and well drained soils.
We have always complemented this wine with a hint of Cabernet Franc (13%), and in recent years a little Petit Verdot and Malbec for a bit of polish and complexity.  Our goal in making cabernet, and all of our wines, is to have something that represents the estate in Carneros.  Our Cabernet falls between the spectrum right between California and Bordeaux: ripe fruit flavors while maintaining structure and minerality. We trade opulence for elegance and finesse in this wine so you can enjoy it now or cellar it for 15-20 years.  We especially love pairing this with short ribs and winter stews.
To order Cabernet or any Truchard wines simply call us at (707) 253-7153, or acquire here.

Cheers,
