No, your eyes do not deceive you. We are presenting our first EVER Mourvedre, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon! Along with the 3rd vintage of Divergence and one other new comer: Convergence! I know that’s a lot to process, so if you need a moment – take your time.

In our modus operandi of blatantly following the lead of some of our favorite Spanish Producers, we’ve added Convergence to our line-up. Whereas Divergence is a Cabernet/Mourvedre blend like some of the great wines of Jumilla, Convergence is a Grenache based wine along the lines of the bigger Garnachas coming out of the Campo de Borja region. But we decided not to stop there! Some of the components that go into Divergence and Convergence were so tasty on their own, that we decided to bottle them separately as well icon smile Loring Wine Company Update

All of the fruit for these wines come from Russell Family Vineyard in Paso Robles. Erich Russell’s vineyard is special in many ways. While many vineyards say they have limestone, and point to the odd rock here and there as proof, Russell Family Vineyard is virtually all limestone. In winter, when the vines are bare, it looks like the vineyard is covered in snow. There are also dozens of hills that provide varying elevations and sun exposures. It’s like a hundred different little vineyards, and Erich has precisely matched varieties and clones to each specific location. What that translates to is stunning fruit with great concentration and amazing natural acidity. These wines aren’t overloaded with tannin, so they’re ready to drink right away. The awesome structure of each wines comes from the acidity, which keeps the wines bright and fresh despite their richness. Very serious, yet seriously fun, wines to drink. We’re extremely excited for you to try our new creations!

2011Grenache Loring Wine Company Update

Amazingly pure high notes of blackberry, plum, and red and black cherry. Plush and rich, but the acidity keeps it bright and focused. Concentrated but not heavy. Spice and minerality round out the finish.

2011Mourvedre Loring Wine Company Update

A symphony of blackberry, coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Great intensity and precision, with depth and richness. Once again, great acidity holds everything together in one seamless chorus of deliciousness.

2010CabernetSauvignon Loring Wine Company Update

A dizzying array of blackberry, red and black cherry aromas and flavors, along with deep crème de cassis. Nice elements of baking spice and toasty oak. Muscular, dense, and concentrated on the palate, but still bright with a surprisingly elegant finish due to great acidity.

2010Convergence Loring Wine Company Update

Super intense with layers of ripe raspberry, blackberry, baking spice, and vanilla that jump out of the glass. Deep and concentrated on the palate, with additional notes of smoked meat and minerality in the finish. An immense wine that’s still light on its feet.

2010Divergence Loring Wine Company Update

The 2010 is a little less crazy than our past two vintages, but it’s still one of the biggest, baddest wines you’ll ever come across. Massive in every way, but still amazingly balanced. Blackberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla cascade over your palate. Insanely concentrated and mouth-coating, but with stunning acidity that keeps the finish bright and focused.
