2010 Washington D.C. International Wine & Food Festival Events Schedule

THURSDAY 11TH – SUNDAY 14TH
Winemaker Dinners at Local Restaurants

While you’re in town, you’ll want to enhance your Festival experience with Winemaker Dinners, featuring specialty wine-related menus at area restaurants offered only during this special four-day celebration.
Offers and packages will vary, so please contact the restaurants for full details.


THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH

Festival Kick-Off Reception at Equinox Restaurant
6-8pm / $50

This evening, flavored with global hors d’oeuvres paired with international wines, promises to sparkle with excitement and set the tone for what’s to follow at the 11th Annual International Wine and Food Festival.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH

Wine & Cheese Pairing
5:00-7:00pm / $25

You’ll derive countless sensations and pleasure from specialty cheeses and perfectly matched wines during this casual yet elegant afternoon in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
The Spirit of the Festival After Hours Reception
9-11pm / $40
This special occasion offers you a chance to mingle with other Festival guests and like-minded wine enthusiasts in a relaxing setting while treating your palate to cocktail creations from around the world,  prepared by Washington’s leading mixologists.  Price of admission includes light hors d’oeuvres and two drink tickets.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH & 14TH

Global Tasting & Street Fare Food Show
12:00pm – 2:00pm Trade Only!
2:00pm – 6:00pm Ticket Holders

Whether you’re a connoisseur or new to wine, the Festival’s main event will dazzle your senses with 150 international wineries pouring more than 600 wines for you to sample in the elegant surroundings of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.  
During the afternoon, you can taste your way through the wine regions of Argentina, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Spain and the U.S., grouped together on the show floor, were you’ll find your old favorites and add new flavors to your repertoire.
You’ll also choose from complimentary food samples from food providers and treat yourself to global cuisine, prepared in the VIP International Food Court.  You’ll enjoy all this, plus opportunities to meet top winemakers who can advise you on selecting and serving wine; and discover the latest wine-related lifestyle products from a broad array of exhibitors. 
Demonstrations on the Washington Post Main Stage
2pm, 3pm & 4pm
You’ll want to secure your seat early to watch premier chefs, vintners and mixologists in action as they demonstrate their prowess and expertise in the field, matching wine and spirits to delectable cuisine. Check back for a full schedule. 
Festival Film
4-6pm / $20
The perfect finale to your afternoon, a  special showing of the film, Bottle Shock, will delight you with its story about how Napa Valley’s Montelena Winery challenged France’s position as the world’s top wine producer  in 1976, putting California wines on the map.  Before the lights go down, you’ll whet your appetite for the movie with wine and cheese in the lobby.
