Newly Released
Reviews & Accolades
We are excited to share our newly published critical reviews and announce that Aperture Cellars has been awarded the highest ratings for Cabernet Sauvignons from Alexander Valley for the third consecutive vintage. We are humbled and appreciative of the kind words and thoughtful tasting notes from the esteemed Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, as reviewed by Erin Brooks.
With the incredible response to these newly reviewed wines, we have officially sold out of our 2019 Bordeaux Red Blend and 2019 Aperture Cabernet Sauvignon. Next month we will kick off our Fall Release and the 2020 vintage of these Soil Series Blends will be available for the first time. We do have small allocations of our 2019 single vineyard cabernet sauvignons accessible now, showcasing an exceptional vintage through three diversely unique terroirs.
Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey as we continue to grow and evolve in our pursuit of excellence.

2019 APERTURE OLIVER RANCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON
98 points
“…stunning and graceful. Medium to deep ruby in color, its aromas unfold slowly, Morello cherry, blueberries and violet segueing to layers of eucalyptus, grilled meats, dried herbs and graphite. The full-bodied palate is generous but not overripe, with chocolate-textured tannins, bursts of fresh acidity and a long finish replete with loads of fine, spicy accents from its maturation in 80% new French oak… this stunner promises long development in the cellar."

2019 APERTURE DEL RIO VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON
97 points
"… a deep ruby color and pure, deep aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, violet and thyme, with nuances of coffee beans, graphite and eucalyptus emerging as it spends time in the glass. The full-bodied palate has a seamless, velvety frame and intense, layered fruits, with notable freshness and length. Its youthful new-oak spice is still integrating, and it’s a touch more reserved than the other 2019s in the Aperture portfolio…"

2019 APERTURE SJ RANCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON
96 points
"…concentration and elegance, and its latent spicy accents suggest it will develop well in bottle. Deep ruby, it has generous layers of cassis, cast iron, salumi and pure violet perfume, continuing to unfold to accents of milk chocolate and bouquet garni as it spends time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate explodes with floral fruits supported by abundant, finely grained tannins, fresh acidity and a very long finish glittering with new French oak spice…"

2019 APERTURE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
95 points | SOLD OUT
“…blended with 3% Merlot and 1% Malbec, explodes with a detailed fragrance of violet, mint leaves, Morello cherries and blueberries, with touches of graphite. The palate is velvety and fresh, with concentrated, ripe fruits that continue to unfold as it glides across the palate to a long finish. Winemaker Jesse Katz and associate winemaker Hillary Sjolund note that this is the first vintage that Cabernet Sauvignon has made up so much of the blend."

2019 APERTURE BORDEAUX RED BLEND
95 points | SOLD OUT
“…40% Malbec, 34% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, matured 18 months in barrel. Medium ruby-purple, it has a deep core of Morello cherry fruit with slowly unfolding nuances of dried thyme, damp earth and violet. The medium-bodied palate boasts resolved, chocolate-textured tannins—winemaker Jesse Katz and associate winemaker Hillary Sjolund were able to utilize the new automated pump-over system at Aperture winery. The wine’s ripeness is toned down, and it offers bright acidity, finishing with latent character, suggesting this has much more to give with additional bottle time.”

2019 APERTURE ESTATE 1912 BLEND
94 points | SOLD OUT
“…from old vines at the Aperture estate, planted primarily to Zinfandel, although the old block most likely includes other varieties such as Petite Sirah. It has a medium ruby-purple color and deep scents of cranberry jelly, blood orange and red cherries, plus nuances of flint, chargrill, charcuterie and streaks of savory spice. It’s notably balanced, with concentrated flavors supported by sandy tannins and bright acidity, and it finishes long and layered…”
