     Truchard Vineyard Update

    Unforgettable Truchard Wine Cruise
    through Bordeaux
    June 15th-22nd

Last spring Truchard Vineyards had an amazing experience cruising through the wine countries of Austria and Hungary and exploring the Gruner Veltliners and Rieslings of the Wachau Valley with more than 50 of our wine loving fans from around the country.
Now we are planning our next trip for 2023.  We are looking forward to our trip through Bordeaux to explore the birthplace of modern viticulture and fine wine. In honor of this upcoming adventure, we would like to feature a few of our favorite Bordeaux varieties to get everyone excited for this upcoming voyage.
We would love to have you join Anthony, Suzanne, Jo Ann Truchard, and family on a spectacular wine cruise adventure through Bordeaux and its wonderful wines (June 15th-20th, 2023). During your journey, you will have the opportunity to taste their family’s Napa Valley wines alongside the wines of one of the oldest and most respected wine regions in the world.  We are going to gather in Bordeaux post cruise just as the BORDEAUX WINE FESTIVAL – FÊTE LE VIN kicks off which is held every other year.

Meet Your Hosts Anthony and Suzanne Truchard

Anthony, whose great-grandfather emigrated from France to the United States in the late 1800s, has always been proud of his French ancestry and is delighted to host this wine cruise through Bordeaux. Ever since he can remember, he has been working either in the vineyards or in the cellar in their Napa Valley vineyards. Whether pruning vines or racking wines, Anthony has experienced every aspect of winemaking from grape to bottle. Anthony has traveled extensively through Bordeaux and the great wine regions of France to learn about French vineyards and winemaking techniques. He pursued a career in law but always kept one foot in the wine business, whether as a consultant for restaurant wine programs or working weekends in a Manhattan wine shop. Anthony returned to Napa in 2005 to head the family’s winery.
He will be joined by his wife Suzanne Marie Besu Truchard, who is Cuban and also of French ancestry.

    Our Bordeaux Variety offerings

    2019 Estate Cabernet Franc

We have grown Cabernet Franc on our property since the early 70’s and have always used it as a blending wine to add aromatics to our Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignons.  In 1997, we were so impressed by the pure expression of Cabernet Franc that we decided to bottle 4 barrels worth and have been doing so ever since.  $40

    2019 Cabernet Franc

    2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

It doesn’t get more Bordeaux inspired than this.  A cool climate Cabernet blend with the additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec.  This elegant Napa Cabernet could easily confuse someone for a left bank favorite.   $45

    2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

    2019 Cave Block Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Cave Block hails from one of the warmest sections of the vineyard with south-facing slopes, giving us a more opulent and rich-style Cabernet from Carneros. $75

    2019 Cave Block

    2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet Sauvignon is the only wine produced by Truchard Vineyards with a “reserve” designation. It is a very limited bottling that is a tribute to the quality of this unique vineyard. $115

    2018 Reserve

2017 Estate Merlot – Library Selection

While our Cabernet may be confused for a left bank favorite, this Merlot takes great inspiration from the wines of St. Emillion.  It is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc grown in the cooler sections dominated by clay soils.  Just what one would find in the left banks of the Gironde rivers.   $55

    2017 Merlot

    2020 Estate Petit Verdot (Pre-Sell)

Always the last to ripen, this Petit Verdot is worth the wait.  This wine has exotic aromatics of wild plum and spice with a deep garnet color that is not for the faint of heart.  Limited 6 bottles per person. To Be Released March 1st, 2023. $50
