Caves have always held countless mysteries throughout time. Continually shielded from the sunlight, these labyrinths have inspired imagination over time and have been homes to dragons, trolls, other mythical beings, and sometimes wine. The caves at Truchard have been a resting place for our wines over the past 25 years, but the grapes that grow above the caves are a recently discovered treasure.
In 2008, we replanted the 1.8 acre hill above our cave with a selection of Clone 169 Cabernet Sauvignon known to produce big and bold Cabernet with intense fruit. From the very first vintage, this block showed that it was something truly magical. Each year, our winemaker, Sal DeIanni selects 6 to 7 barrels for this single block bottling. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley.

Sal, our winemaker, will discuss how he crafted these new vintages and give a review of one of the craziest vintages in years – Harvest 2020.
