Treat yourself by cooking up these mouthwatering dishes from Jaleo restaurant. The Apple and Fennel Salad with Manchego and Walnuts coupled with Grilled Hanger Steak with Confit of Piquillo Peppers is a perfect fall dinner. Our friends from Jaleo recommend pairing this tasty dinner with Bodegas Menade Verdejo from Rueda or Finca Villacreces Pruno from Ribera (or better yet, both!)
FALL DINNER PARTY PAIRINGS
Partying with Tempranillo Reds
Is there anything better than a full-bodied red wine, filled with ripe, red fruit flavors and notes of warm spice? We think not! It’s what makes Ribera tempranillo wines unequivocally easy to pair. Here are some tips for your next fall dinner party:
- For a main dish, pair Ribera Tempranillo with lamb, roasted meats, spice-infused stews or chilis
- Not a meat fan? Cumin-spiced salmon, grilled chicken, pulled pork, and smoky grilled vegetables are perfectly enhanced by the dark fruit and smoky flavors of Ribera wines
- And for dessert, dark chocolate, flan and other baked sweets pair perfectly with the vanilla and spice notes found Ribera. Enjoy!
Entertaining with Verdejo Whites
Looking for a food-friendly white wine? The region of Rueda has you covered. Rueda Verdejo wines have lively acidity, bright citrus fruit, balanced by lush body. Check out these tips for your next gathering:
- For a main dish, pair Rueda Verdejo with shellfish, robust salads, or spicy foods
- Anything with rich sauces or buttery flavors balance perfectly with the crisp and refreshing notes of Rueda white wines
- In the mood for Thai or dumplings? Verdejo’s acidity and full body lend versatility that complements a diverse range of cuisines!

Did You Know?
Did you know… many of the grapes in the regions of Rueda and Ribera del Duero are harvested at night? The warm daytime temperatures of the regions during fall harvest can lead to a change in the composition of the grapes, so picking them at night during lower temperatures helps stabilize the sugar levels. Rather than using intervention methods or fancy equipment to lower the temperatures of the grapes during the day, night harvesting is more sustainable, is easier for farmers and pickers, has lower energy costs and results in better wines!
