DECANTER MAGAZINE PROFILES ADAM AND RATES CLARICE AND BEAU MARCHAIS WINES!
When I worked in wine retail in Texas in the late 1980s, we would always be excited when a tattered copy of Decanter Magazine showed up at the store, knowing that it had survived the trip overseas and contained columns from some of the greatest wine writers in the world, such as Michael Broadbent, Hugh Johnson, Clive Coates, and Serena Sutcliffe. We’d read every word, checking out what “Claret” the British were drinking and trying to correlate the 20-point-scale to the 100-point-scale.
Never did that 20-something young wine retailer imagine that someday Decanter Magazine would publish a profile on him. And yet, that is what has happened. Here are some of the highlights:
"The winemaker who became a West Coast Pinot Noir legend, crafting the variety up and down the coast for his Siduri brand, has launched a new chapter.
And it is California’s Central Coast – specifically, Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands – that gives him the character he covets for his Clarice Wine Company."
"Lee has earned a reputation for coaxing Pinot Noir from a range of growing regions. His wines from the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Lucia Highlands on California’s Central Coast up through the Russian River Valley, West Sonoma, and Anderson Valley farther north, to Oregon’s Willamette Valley – made into the best versions of themselves."
You can find the entire Decanter profile here if you are a Premium Subscriber (sorry about that): https://www.decanter.com/premium/the-adam-lee-interview-plus-10-cali-pinot-noirs-tasted-488661/
