This vintage marks Fantesca’s seventh offering of Chardonnay. Some of you might remember that we changed our bottle shape in 2007, to follow the more traditional Burgundian style that so clearly announces the wine inside. There is nothing simple about this bottle of wine, from the vessel that captures it, to the wine itself. Using an antique hand-made mold, each bottle is forged in France of a unique green glass, that is then frosted to create the eye catching texture you’ve come to expect. Held together with a deep punt to ease pouring, there won’t be an empty glass at your next dinner party. Why the fuss? Fantesca is the only Chardonnay Heidi Barrett makes – and that alone makes it special! The bottle’s just the finishing touch.

2010 Fantesca Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

Light straw yellow in color with rich ripe aromas of citrus and lemon peel and a sweetness from toasty French oak. The wine is enticing without any heaviness. Round and mouth-filling with bright crisp acidity and very clean, pure Chardonnay flavors. Green apple, pear tart and lemon curd come to mind in both aromas and flavors. The oak level is light here and used only to enhance the fruit core.
