2009 Chardonnay, Mountain Estate Vineyard, Sonoma County (Price: $65; Pre-Release: $60)

A beautiful, seamless wine from an excellent vintage of mild, balanced weather. Owing to its steep northeast aspect and high elevation heritage, this wine offers up classic minerality, tremendous intensity and crisp acidity. Click here for production information

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Mountain Estate Vineyard, Sonoma County (Price: $80; Pre-Release: $75)

Strutting, more than just hitting stride, this low-yield vintage leaps to an impressive new level of concentration. Just the fourth year for this label, 2008 is sure to impress boasting dense, dark mountain fruit, beautifully balanced by seamless texture. Click here for production information

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, Lamb Vineyard, Napa Valley (Price: $150; Pre-Release: $135)

Holding the best for last, this is our final 2007 vintage release. One for the ages, though tempting to indulge today, this wine offers hallmark gravelly character and personality of northern Graves, per Mr. Parker. We certainly agree – 2007 is a very special vintage for our treasured Lamb Vineyard! Click here for production information

Flat land is boring! At least that’s one reason my parents claim to have first planted and produced wines here, high in the Mayacamas Mountains. Though the sentiment may be slightly oversimplified, there is no denying the years since founding the winery in 1973 have been anything but boring.
Of course debating the relative intrigue between flat land and mountains is all the more relevant when it comes to wine itself. Consider our three new releases this spring: Mountain Estate Vineyard Chardonnay and Cabernet, as well as Lamb Vineyard Cabernet from our Napa Estate on the valley floor in Calistoga. Terroir, terrain and aspect in each case contribute to fascinating elements of flavor, texture and chemistry – bold statements articulating distinctive vineyard heritage.
Now approaching four decades in our quest to grow and produce wines that articulate the dramatically varied landscape of our region, high, low, steep or flat, we are firm believers that none is boring – rather, quite the opposite. When you taste these wines, we hope you agree and find unique character in each that adds excitement and joy to your journey with wine.
