Dear Wine Lovers of New Jersey,

Many legislators in New Jersey still aren’t convinced that you want to order the wines you want, from any licensed US winery -– not the wines that state government or special interests say you can order.

To help them get the message, we have a simple request: tell us your story!

Have you had trouble ordering directly from wineries? Just email us a 3-4  sentence quote about your disappointing experience, and what you think of New Jersey’s shipping restrictions.
What do you want to see changed and why? Email us at fedup@freethegrapes.org
It’s time to turn up the heat! New Jersey is one of only two states that bans winery-to-consumer shipments from medium and large wineries that produce more than 250,000 gallons (or 106,000 cases) each vintage. It also prohibits many small and medium-sized wineries owned by larger wineries from shipping directly to consumers like you in New Jersey. This “capacity cap” excludes direct shipments from wineries that produce more than 90% of US wine!
    Background
Free the Grapes! believes consumers should determine which wines they want. Hundreds of wineries that craft more than 250,000 gallons each vintage should not be penalized by the New Jersey Legislature for being successful or being owned by another winery.
Removing this barrier to winery direct shipping won’t just help consumers. New Jersey stands to gain millions of dollars a year in revenues from the permit fees and taxes these additional wineries would pay.
Similar capacity caps on winery shipping were overturned recently in Arizona and Massachusetts.
Please join the cause, email us, and use our website to contact your state legislators today. Tell them you’re fed up. Demand legislation that gives consumers free choice, like in almost every other state.
With your help, let’s update New Jersey’s archaic, burdensome rules.
    Thank you for your support!
