Click Here to Write Your Representative Before June 3 Deadline

The Assembly will decide the fate of wine direct shipping in New Jersey on or by June 3.

Next Thursday, June 3 is the deadline for scheduling a hearing on Assembly Bill 1702 in the 2010 legislative session.

ACTION: Please take two minutes today and personalize a letter of support for wine shipping to your Assembly representative by clicking here.

As you may know, favorable direct shipping Senate Bill 766 passed the Senate on March 11. Now the Assembly has until June 3 to schedule a hearing on Assembly Bill 1702. If it does not, then we will have lost an opportunity this year to dramatically improve access to wines from across the U.S.

Both SB766 and AB1702 are based on the proven model direct shipping bill, now the legislative standard used by most U.S. states for legal, regulated direct-to-consumer wine shipments.  These laws satisfy consumer demand and state regulatory requirements, creating a new source for state tax revenues. New Jersey is the fifth largest state for wine consumption but one of only 13 states that continue to ban legal, regulated winery-to-consumer shipments.

More than 80% of the U.S. population already has access to direct shipments of wine. We think you should, too! Please write your letter today and forward this to your colleagues and friends.
