The Wines

2013 Fulcrum Anderson Valley Pinot Noir – 144 cases made

Regular $57- Exclusive pre-release price $45.60

We have been making an Anderson Valley Pinot since 2006, and with each year we refine our approach to allow the vineyard to really shine. The fruit is from the renowned Donnelly Creek Vineyard right outside of Booneville. 100% from the Pommard clone which delivers a rich and deep wine. We think Anderson Valley is so special because of the forest and earthy aromas that it imparts to the Pinot grown there. Dark cherry flavors, balanced acid and tannins with just the right amount of oak to lift the aromatics.  This is a wine we are really proud of.

2013 Fulcrum Landy Vineyard Russian River Valley Petite Sirah - 119 cases made

Regular $45 – Exclusive pre-release price $36.00

Well this year is no sophomore slump!  We really have a special wine this year from Landy Vineyard.  With the first sip you can see what a great Petite Sirah is all about. Grown in the cool heart of the Russian River Valley, this is a bold, complex and age-worthy wine. Our version of Petite strives to bring the complexity of the Rhone to a Califonia wine with all of the richness our sunny state offers.  You can drink it now, but you can also age it for a decade or more with excellent results.  With only 119 cases available now is the time to give it a try.

High Praise for our 2013s!

More reviews keep coming in and here is a sampling of some of those we have so far.

Wine Review Online

“David Rossi has it bad for California Pinot Noir. Rossi’s flagship Fulcrum Pinots are ripe, juicy, bold yet remarkably balanced. His new line of Pinot Noirs, On Point, are a less-is-more concept, racy and vibrant, with subtle oak influence, moderate alcohols and snappy acidity accenting the bright red-fruit character.”

2013 On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir- “The inviting floral and cherry pie nose leads to a palate of vivid black cherry and raspberry fruit that’s very bright, juicy and mouthwatering, with finishing notes of Asian spice and licorice. It’s a pretty side of Pinot Noir.” 93 Points -Linda Murphy, June 2015

2013 Fulcrum Gap’s Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir-  “A tasty core of cherry fruit, a hint of oak, and a silky mouthfeel. The tannins are well matched to the mid weight plus fruit load, and the wine finishes with a charge of bright red cherry fruit. The nose was more expressive the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle offering the aroma of dark red cherry compote. The fruit flavor was more intense and the silky smooth texture continued to satisfy.” 92 Points; Outstanding

2013 Fulcrum Brosseau Vineyard Pinot Noir- “The satiny texture really stands out in this mid weight wine featuring red cherry fruit framed by firm, but integrated, fine-grain tannins. The most elegant of the four 2013 Fulcrum vineyarddesignates, but also the most tannic which is typical of this vineyard.” 90 Points; Outstanding

2013 Fulcrum Anderson Valley Pinot Noir-  “Aromas and flavors of cherry and spice are complimented by a touch of oak. The tannins are folded in, and the wine finishes with a good cut of acidity and plenty of spice.” 90 Points; Outstanding -Rusty Gaffney, July 2015

Newsday

“2013 On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and 2013 On Point Christinna’s Cuvée Anderson Valley Pinot Noir are balanced, forward, berried.” -Peter Gianotti, July 2015

The Tasting Panel

2013 On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir- “Silky and smooth with raspberry fruit and juicy acidity; clean, savory and long with lively acid structure and bright style.” 90 Points: Outstanding -Anthony Dias Blue, July 2015

Wine Review Online

2013 On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir- 91 Points

2013 On Point Christinna’s Cuvée Pinot Noir- 90 Points

“My recent blind tasting of several California Pinot Noirs included two wines that delighted me. Thebrand was On Point, a label of Fulcrum Wines, and the wines were a 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and a 2013 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir…Both wines are excellent. The On Point Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir seduced me. It has an effusive berry and smoke perfume and the texture of silk. It has flavors of red berries, cherries, sage and mineral; it’s juicy and truly fruity but the fruit is not exaggerated. Fresh acidity upholds the expressive, ripe fruitiness and thrusts the taste of the wine upward, for depth, and rearward for a soft, flavorful finish.

On Point 2013 Christinna’s Cuvée from Anderson Valley is, to my taste, a more autumnal Pinot Noir. Its aromas and flavors are more subtle and less fresh-fruity than those of the Sonoma Coast wine; along with cherry notes, the aroma suggests spice and evergreen, and the flavors hint at underbrush, earth and meatiness. Also, the wine is slightly more tannic than the Sonoma Coast Pinot, providing more gravitas. Of the two, this is perhaps the more sophisticated wine. On the table, the Anderson Valley wine had the edge because its earthy tones and more subtle fruitiness harmonize beautifully with a wider range of dishes.” -Mary Ewing-Mulligan, 2015
