    Fulcrum Reviews

We are always conflicted when discussing reviews and scores. Of course we love to have rave reviews, but we don’t want that to influence our style. Many times we prefer wines that don’t score as well with certain critics, and of course the critics don’t always agree. As always, trust your own palate.

That being said, here are some reviews of our 2010 Pinot Noirs:

    PINOT REPORT(Greg Walter)
2010 Fulcrum Londer Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir- 92 Points

Medium-deep ruby color; ripe stewed cherry aroma with earthy and herbal notes; rich and deep stewed cherry flavors with a lot of earthy complexity; some oak and tannin; good structure and balance; long finish. Complex, rich Pinot with nicely developed earthy nuances.

Deep ruby color; dark cherry and plum aromas with vanilla and earthy notes; deep, complex, plum flavors with spice, vanilla and earthy notes; some tannin and sweet oak; good structure and balance; long finish. This is a Pinot that offers great flavors right now for a hearty dish but also will reward several years in the cellar.

    BURGHOUND (Allen Meadows)
2010 Fulcrum Floodgate Vineyard, Russian River Valley- 90 Points

An elegant and very pretty combination of red and blue pinot fruit aromas introduces fresh, vibrant, detailed and solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess fine depth on the balanced and persistent finish. While this lovely effort could easily be enjoyed now it should also reward 3 to 5 years of cellar time. 2015+

2010 Fulcrum Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Sonoma Coast- 90 Points

A pure and airy nose of cranberry and cherry liqueur aromas enjoy added breadth from the presence of plum and spice nuances. There is very good richness to the polished and clean middle weight flavors that possess impressive mid-palate concentration before culminating in a complex, intense, balanced and admirably persistent finish. Worth considering. 2015+

    2010 Fulcrum Londer Vineyard,Anderson Valley- 91 Points

A highly seductive and spicy nose of red berry fruit liqueur aromas slides gracefully into utterly delicious, fresh and vibrant flavors that possess both good size and weight. There is excellent depth to the dusty, pure and balanced finish that delivers fine persistence. This is really very good. 91/2016+

    PINOT FILE (William Gaffney)
2010 Fulcrum Londer Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Effusive and spell binding aromas of fresh black cherries and baking spices. Very tasty core of darker red cherries and berries wrapped in fine-grain, firm tannins. A beguiling wine of great interest. Very good (+)

2010 Fulcrum Floodgate Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Demure aromas of black cherries, black raspberries and baking spice. Lovely fruit core with luscious flavors of black cherries, cola and spice, robed in dry, fine-grain tannins and underlain with modest acidity. Very pleasing finesse with staying power on the lengthy finish. A very distinguished vineyard source that really delivers. One of the most outstanding wines I have had from winemaker David Rossi. Very good (+).

2010 On Point Christinna’s Cuvée North Coast Pinot Noir

Moderately light reddish-purple hue in the glass. Pleasant aromas of dark red cherries, red currants and berries with notes of briar, Dr. Pepper and oak spice. Light, but big on flavor with an array of bright fruits including raspberry, cherry and blueberry. Mild tannins and great uplifting natural acidity. A solid, well-crafted wine and a good value to boot. Very good.

2010 Fulcrum Gap’s Crown Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Brightly perfumed with aromas of black plums, blackberry jam and Chinese Five Spice. Deliciously rich core of blackberry and plum reduction sauce flavors with a very appealing accent of spice. The wines fills the mouth with fruit, grabbing your attention, but is light on its feet due to supple tannins and impeccable balance. A big boy Pinot with black tie class and flat-out terrific.

    WINE SPECTATOR
2010 Floodgate Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley). 90 Points

Graceful, with supple plum and black cherry and touches of spice and flowers, gaining a black licorice-anise note on the finish. Drink now through 2021. 95 cases made. –JL

    WINE ENTHUSIAST
2010 Floodgate Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley). 92 Points

This Pinot tastes young and undeveloped, but it should go places. Evidence of its youth lies in the big tannins and acids and the way the fruit flavors are so fresh and primary. Although it’s delicious in berries and currants, it just hasn’t pulled together. It’s so balanced it should benefit from 4–5 years in a cellar. Cellar Selection. —S.H.
