Ketcham Estate Spring Library Cleaning

We are doing a little Spring cleaning here at Ketcham. Like most wineries, Mark and I put away 15-20 cases of each wine for posterity and with the idea we would release small amounts of each occasionally to our mailing list. In most cases, we have released 5-10 cases of the available wines but there are also some circumstances that forced us to release just a few bottles, like the 2006 Russian River Valley pinot (6 bottles). Regardless, this is a chance to buy a few of your favorites from past vintages and have an opportunity to drink them with some age. What can be better!

For this offering only, we have reduced the price of the 2008 Ketcham Vineyard to the same price as the Russian River Valley ($38). Also, if you buy a mixed case of 750mls, we will provide an additional 15% discount on the wines and a 50% discount on shipping.

Ketcham Estate Library Offerings

We have small quantities of of all 3 of our prior Russian River Valley pinots. I recently opened the 2005 and it is drinking at perfect peak with both secondary and tertiary flavors. This will probably be the last opportunity to buy these aged vintages.

The Ketcham Vineyard, which always takes longer to come around due to the fact a great portion of the wine is from our 25 year old vines, is really showing well but still needs a couple years to peak, in my opinion.

Also, we are no longer producing etched magnums, the 2005 was a special circumstance due to it being our inaugural vintage. If you have not seen these before, I will promise you will be impressed.

KE RRV 05 Front Label Ketcham Estate

2005 Ketcham Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir – $38.00
Color: Ruby red with a crisp edge. Aromatics: The nose offers up layers of spices, bright red cherries, raspberries, some strawberry, spice and stone fruit leading the way, with a bit of mineral and mushroom integrated throughout. Palate: The palate serves up layers of flavors that only Russian River Valley can deliver. The acidity, firm and snappy, provides the framework for a dance of red fruits, bright red cherry, strawberry and raspberry on entry which leads to a full mid palate framed by acidity and soft tannins. Red fruit, mineral, spice and clean earth balance the wine with purity and a long, lingering finish. When to Drink: You can enjoy this now (with a good decanting), but the wine will continue to improve for the next 1-2 years. We hope you have more patience than we do!!! Food Pairings :Wild game birds, roasted chicken, fresh salmon, rack of lamb grilled with fresh rosemary, all pair wonderfully with this mouthwatering wine. For the non-meat eaters amongst us, try truffled risotto or porcini ravioli smothered in sweet thyme butter. See our website for additional recipes that pair with our wines.

KE PN KetVnyd 06 FRNT Ketcham Estate

2006 Ketcham Estate Ketcham Vineyard Pinot Noir – $48.00
This is the first wine we have produced with grapes exclusively from our vineyard (to say we are excited is a gross understatement!). The nose is more intense than the RRV, and more complex. There is a hint of dark chocolate wrapped around the signature spice and dark red fruits. This wine has more explosive flavors and the chocolate nuances appear on the palate as well. But this wine screams Russian River Valley and confirms the profile that we believe is a hallmark of the vineyard – that is, red raspberries, cherries and an underlying stream of spices. The wine has softer tannins and, although it is approachable now, it will greatly benefit from a year or two in the cellar.

KE PN RRV 06 FRNT Ketcham Estate

2006 Ketcham Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir – $38.00
The wine is crafted from two vineyards. 80% Ketcham Vineyard, and 20% and Neel Vineyard. The nose is pure Russian River Valley with our signature spice and bright cherry and raspberry fruits. The wines from our vineyard always show firm acidity, and this vintage is, again, firm and snappy. The palate has red fruit, mineral, spice and cola, and shows a softer side than the 2005.

KE PN RRV 07 Ketcham Estate

2007 Ketcham Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir – $38.00
Aromatics : Spicy red cherry, raspberry and ripe cranberry notes are at the forefront with subtle hints of fresh strawberry, rose petal and light brown spice. Palate : Superbly balanced on entry this wine delivers a soft and supple texture backed up by an underlying backbone framed by refreshing acidity and soft, round tannins. Flavors of fresh cherry and crushed raspberries surround the palate and are highlighted by a bit of cinnamon and cranberry.

KE PN KetVnyd 07 Ketcham Estate

2007 Ketcham Estate Ketcham Vineyard Pinot Noir – $48.00
In the 2007 vintage, we have produced 420 cases of our flagship Estate pinot noir. As we have become more intimate with the nuances and characteristics of our vineyard, we are better able to understand its true nature. Thus, we are able to elicit its uniqueness in the wines, which is what we strive for in making our Estate pinot. We have discovered the blocks that, in our opinion, truly represent the Russian River Valley and our site, and we can isolate the grapes in barrel and craft a wine we feel has true expression of where it comes from. Combine that with the incredible quality of the 2007 vintage, and we felt we could finally increase production of a wine that is unique and of the highest quality.

KE viognier front Ketcham Estate

2008 Ketcham Estate Russian River Valley Viognier – $25.00
The wine is crafted from a small family-farmed Vineyard, Marsha’s Vineyard, in the heart of the Russian River Valley, just off of Olivet Lane. The wine was fermented in stainless steel kegs, which always provides a lighter and more nuanced wine. This shows a crisp, refreshing style with typical Viognier complexity and layers of flavors. Viognier is typically full-bodied with effusive aromas, and our Viognier carries the torch proudly. We are happy to have produced a very unique California Viognier. 42 cases produced.
