It’s with great sadness that our family has been watching the Japanese people suffer from the devastating effects of the recent earthquake, tsunami, and now they, and the rest of the world, worry about radiation released from a massive nuclear accident. Our best wishes and thoughts are with them as they recover from this disaster.

But we want to do more than just share good thoughts…

During this release season, $1 from every 750ml and 375ml bottle we sell and $3 from every magnum will be donated to the Red Cross and designated for Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami relief efforts.

Our first written drafts about the 2008 vintage included descriptions of the challenges Mother Nature threw our way during the 2008 growing season. With everything that is going on around the world, that seems inappropriate and trivial now. While growing conditions cut down on the size of our crop, we were still blessed with a wonderful harvest that winemaker Cary Gott used to make fantastic wines. We’re very proud of both of our 2008s and it’s our opinion that they even surpass the vaunted 2007 vintage at this stage.

It is our extreme pleasure to present to you the 2008 Match Butterdragon Hill Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine displays the lush, sweet cherry Cabernet fruit we’ve come to expect from Butterdragon Hill with a spicy background of black pepper, licorice, and dark roasted espresso. Right now it has a firm, chewy structure and a brooding style that needs 2-3 hours in the decanter and is sure to please for years to come. Only 300 cases were produced.
