Library Tasting of Benanti wines with Antonio Benanti

Please join us Tuesday, May 10th for a very special evening as we welcome Antonio Benanti from Sicily’s Benanti Wines to our shop. We’ve been quite taken by wines from Mt. Etna over the past few years and Benanti is as good as they come. It’s a striking wine region, with the still-active Mt. Etna looming in the background and some vines planted at over 3000 ft. elevation. The stage is certainly set to produce great wine — old phylloxera-free vines, volcanic soil, island breeze, generous sunshine and a large temperature swing from day to night to promote slow, even ripening. If you are curious about the buzz these days surrounding the wines from Mt. Etna, Benanti is a perfect place to start. The wines from Mt. Etna are hard to resist, and this is a great chance to taste a wide range from a benchmark producer with one of the owners.
