It’s hard to believe it’s already October! Harvest is in full swing, and it’s time to break out your wooly sweater and sip your way into fall at wine events around the nation. Here are some great events, so if you’re in the area, be sure to check them out.
26th Annual Gruene Music and Wine Festival, New Braunfels, TX, Oct. 4-7
Four days of great live music, food, and wine from around Texas. Located near both Austin and San Antonio, this event benefits local charities, so get your tickets today. More information available here.
Backyard Winemaker Dinner Series at Apple Farm Inn, San Luis Obispo, CA, Oct. 5 
Harvest season is our favorite time on the wine calendar, and we never miss an opportunity to eat and sip outdoors! Enjoy a four-course “backyard” dinner with seasonal dishes and wines from the Paso Robles husband and wife team from Poalillo Vineyards. More information available here.
Sonoma County Harvest Fair, Santa Rosa, CA, Oct. 5-7
Celebrate harvest time with three days of wine from over 150 wineries, plus live jazz, local gourmet food, a giant pumpkin contest, fine art, and activities for kids! More information available here.
9th Annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop, Truckee, CA, Oct. 6 
Come to downtown Truckee near Lake Tahoe to sample wine and food; all participants receive a map of participating venues, as well as a goodie bag and food tickets. More information available here.
3rd Annual Springs Preserve Grapes & Hops Festival, Las Vegas, NV, Oct. 6 
Featuring fine wine, beer and food from excellent Las Vegas restaurants, as well as Afro-Cuban and salsa music and a silent auction, this Saturday evening event benefits Par for The Cure, which raises money for breast cancer research. More information available here.
2012 New York City Wine & Food Festival, New York, NY, Oct. 11-14
Tickets are sure to sell quickly for this four-day celebration of fine wine, food, and spirits in the entertainment and food capital of the world. More information available here.
2012 TASTE Philadelphia Festival of Food, Wine and Spirits, Oaks, PA, Oct. 12-14 
Food and wine exhibits from all over the world highlight this three-day festival. Additionally, there will be celebrity chef demos and wine and beer seminars. More information available here.
Black Dog Wine & Music Festival, Floyd, VA, Oct. 13 
Admission to this all-day festival featuring live beach music includes a winery tour, tastings and a souvenir wine glass, as well as food vendors and the opportunity to let loose with some barefoot dancing. More information available here.
6th Annual Wine Festival at 5 Rivers, Spanish Fort, AL, Oct. 18 
Come experience selections from a variety of local restaurants and wine distributors, as well as live music and sunset cruises on Mobile Bay. More information available here.
9th Annual Cleveland Wine Opener, Cleveland, OH, Oct. 19 
A benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, this event is geared toward both wine novices and connoisseurs. With cuisine from renowned local chefs and wines to pair with the food, be sure to attend if you’re in the area. More information available here.
Reserve Sonoma Valley, Sonoma, CA, Oct. 20-21
There’s no better time to visit Sonoma than harvest season.
