Greetings from Sebastopol,
While the afternoons here remain hot and sunny, there’s a crispness to the air at just the right time of morning or evening that hints that a change of season is on the horizon. And whether we were ready for it or not, Harvest is here and the winery is humming!
The bulk of our fruit will come in over the next 6-8 weeks and while we’ll be busy with pump overs, punch downs, and foot stomping, we’ll be making sure to take time to share some of our favorite wines around the table. Our long table on the crush pad has been a place of rest, rejuvenation, and inspiration for an endless stream of interns from across the world, wine professionals and enthusiasts, and dear friends and family. This release includes the staples we enjoy this time of year, the wines we can enjoy equally on a hot afternoon and in the cooling evenings, with tacos and BLTs at lunchtime or at an indulgent dinner on the odd light workday. True to the variety and true to the earth they’re rooted in, we always utilize a philosophy of minimal intervention that we hope preserves individuality and insight in our wines.

Chenin Blanc

Mendocino County
2017
$30/bottle
In contrast with the 2016, this wine went through full malolactic fermentation and was bottled unfiltered. Slightly reductive with a sexy nose of melon, wool, Mirabelle plums and flowers.

Syrah
North Coast

A bowl of summer fruits including sweet blackberries, raspberries, black olives and pomegranates which are highlighted by black pepper, violets and fresh green olive scents that develop and evolve with air. Vivacious and bright in the mouth with real density of flavor and concentration from the long cool growing season.

Gamay Noir
Sonoma Coast
2018

Fermented 100% whole cluster with partial carbonic maceration, this wine has delicate tannins and serious natural acidity. Plums, fresh tilled earth, cinnamon stick and black raspberry aromas fill the alluring nose of this deeply saturated wine.

Half Alder Springs Grenache & half Bedrock Vineyard Mourvedre, this classic wine screams southern Rhone. There is an intriguing wildness centered around an earthy complexity found in only the best Mourvedre wines in the world, which adds a tannic structure to this delicious blend.
