Monte Rosso Vineyard Zinfandel Long Live the Legend!

The 2011 Monte Rosso Vineyard Zinfandel ($52/47) has brought its A-game. The cool and moderate season brought out the brambly, peppery goodness of a classic Monte Rosso: wild blackberry, raspberry compote, pink and black peppercorn, roasted dry chile, clove, dried oak leaves, cured meats, iron filings, and warm stones.

The Monte Rosso Vineyard sits high on the eastern slopes of the Moon Mountain district of Sonoma. Known for its red volcanic soil, the mountain looks as if someone spilled a large glass of red wine on this hillside. The historic vines were planted in the 1880’s and resemble something out of a Tim Burton movie. Decade in, decade out, nothing comes close to the personality and consistency of Zinfandels from the magnificent Monte Rosso. This is the stuff collector’s look for: wines of pedigree, complexity, longevity… and let’s face it – scarcity. Biale produces only 500 cases per year.

BCS members with a year or more in the club will not be charged shipping on full case orders (mix and match). Cold Chain is always available at no additional costs, so your wine is safe and will be temperature controlled all the way to you. Will Call orders need to have an approximate pick up date, please.
